What if your relationship with God was never meant to begin with you trying harder to find Him? What if, before you ever knew how to seek Him, He was already seeking you?
Throughout Scripture, we see a God who moves toward His people, who sees them in their hiding, hears them in their pain, calls them by name, carries them when they are weary, and makes a way home when they have wandered. You were created for communion with God, not to strive for His attention or prove that you are worthy of His love. His love came first, and His pursuit continues today.

1. God Pursued You Before You Ever Existed
God’s pursuit of you did not begin the day you prayed your first prayer or decided to follow Jesus, because His love reaches further back than your own beginning. Before you accomplished anything, served anyone, made a good decision, or even took your first breath, you were already known and chosen by God. You are not an afterthought, and you do not have to spend your life trying to earn a place in His heart because He loved you before you could offer Him anything at all.
“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” Ephesians 1:4
2. God Comes Looking When You Hide
When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from God, but God did not abandon them in their shame. He came looking and called out, “Where are you?” He already knew where they were, yet His question was an invitation to step out of hiding and back into relationship with Him. When shame tells you to hide until you are better, cleaner, or more worthy, remember that God does not wait for you to fix yourself before He comes near.

6. God Binds Himself to You Through Covenant Love

9. God Covers What You Cannot Fix
When Adam and Eve tried to cover their own shame with fig leaves, God provided a covering they could never provide for themselves, pointing forward to the greater covering we receive through Christ. This is such a freeing picture of grace because God does not stand over you demanding that you somehow make yourself righteous enough to approach Him. Maybe the greatest thing you can do today is stop trying to earn what God has already given you. You do not have to perform for His attention, produce enough to deserve His affection, or become impressive enough to secure your place in His heart. You are not chasing a reluctant God who needs to be convinced to love you. You are being pursued by a faithful God whose love came first.
So take a breath and let the pressure fall away. You are already seen, already known, already chosen, and already loved. The invitation is not to strive harder so God will come closer, but to open your heart and recognize that He has been moving toward you all along. You can stop chasing love because, in Christ, Love has already found you.
